Greek for You

Our Presentation at the prestigious University of Strasbourg

On November 24th, 2017 our team was hosted by the Department of Modern Greek of the University of Strasbourg for a presentation/discussion of the series Greek for You (NEOHEL). Dr. Tsamadou-Jacoberger, vice-president of the University of Strasbourg and scientific advisor of NEOHEL, introduced our team and presented the first volume of Greek for you series, A0 on phonetics and pronunciation.

Dr. Tsamadou-Jacoberger also made an important announcement regarding the creation of a new Bachelor Degree on Modern Greek, with director Dr. Maria Zerva. Dr. Zerva, who had organised the event, was unfortunately, unable to attend, but in her place, three of her students took the stand and talked about their experience learning Greek with the series Le grec pour vous (the French version of the series). Other speakers were the director of NEOHEL, Ms. E. Georgantzi, who presented the reasons why Greek for you is an important material for the teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language, Ms. L. Vaska-Paidoussi who presented NEOHEL’s new web site, and Ms. V. Kyriazi-Tetsdeki, who talked about the series Asterias for children, as applied at the Lycee Francais in Athens.

The discussion was very lively, as both teachers and students contributed with their experience in teaching and learning Greek using the series, and important points of view were exchanged. After the end of the presentation, the teams of the University of Strasbourg and NEOHEL had a relaxing dinner at a traditional French restaurant and wished each other:
